Second Round Boxing & Gang Outreach

Second Round Boxing uses boxing, weight training, and other forms of exercise to teach youth self-discipline, team work, leadership, healthy living, and other pro-socialization elements.

Our facility is equipped with an amateur-size boxing ring, multiple punching bags, rubberized flooring, and a complete weight room. Program sessions are structured and challenging for participants, and typically entail warm up, stretching, calisthenics, running, jump rope, weight training, and boxing skills. Participants are required to engage in education and/or employment to remain in the program.

Youth who comply with our program standards of Grades, Attendance, Attitude, Service, and Skill, are afforded the opportunities to travel to and compete in amateur boxing competitions. In addition, program youth attend community events and engage in multiple public speaking opportunities.

The program serves youth/young adults between the ages of 10-21 that are involved in, or at-risk of becoming involved in negative behaviors that include delinquent/criminal activity, gang activity, substance abuse, verbal/physical aggression, school suspensions, etc. Programming occurs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:00p-7:00p. New member’s orientation is every Tuesday beginning at 5:00p. All participating youth must attend orientation.

As part of the Second Round program, Gang Outreach services are available to the community as well. Gang Outreach uses a combination of community engagement and case management to help curb gang activity in youth ages 10-18. Outreach specialists work with youth, their families, and within various systems involved in the youth’s life to create goals, implement intervention plans, and to hold the youth and families accountable for carrying out action plans. Services can last up to 3 months per client, and longer depending on client need.

The Second Round Boxing Gym is located at 15 N West St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
