Mentoring
The Mentoring Program consists of 2 types of mentoring - Group and Peer Mentoring:
Group Mentoring allows volunteers to spend time with Youth In Care (ages 7-17) providing educational, recreational or cultural activities (i.e. tutoring, Yoga, Art) which create new ways to look at things and exposure to new experiences.
How do I Volunteer? Complete the Volunteer Application and submit it to the Mentoring Program Coordinator. The Coordinator will contact the applicant to discuss the mentoring project and set up a time for an interview.
Peer Mentoring is provided through our Youth Involvement Board (YIB) which consists of High School students. The youth lead group works to educate their peers on various topics that affect the community.
How do I join? Fill out an application and contact YIB Staff at Wrenn House 919-832-7866 to discuss details about becoming a part of the Board.
Does a mentor really make a difference? YES! Because of the efforts of all our mentors many young people have stayed out of trouble, improved in school and have learned to get along better with their families.
Other ways to Volunteer: Individuals can also volunteer or support the mentoring program by hosting or planning a group activity for youth and mentors, donate food vouchers or tickets to local events (i.e. McDonalds, Sports Activities, Movies).
