Safe Place

Safe Place Outreach, a component of our crisis shelter, is a network of 200+ public locations identified by the yellow and black nationally recognized Safe Place sign. Sites provide young people immediate access to assistance with the help of more than 100 trained volunteers.

Wrenn House is the only shelter for runaway and homeless youth in Wake County. Wrenn House provides immediate intervention and/or temporary shelter 24/7 for young people 10 - 17 who are runaways, homeless or in a crisis. Reunifying the family is the primary goal when possible.

Homesteaders provides experienced counselors who work to prevent out-of-home placement of youth 7 - 17 through intensive in-home family counseling, parenting skill development and use of community resources.

Youth Enrichment Services (YES) matches at-risk or delinquent young people ages 7 - 17 with appropriate, trained adult role models.

Group Homes reduce individual and family problems through positive interaction and counseling for youth
12 - 17 experiencing difficulty within their family, school or community. Facilities for males and females are provided.

Restitution and Community Service (RCS) provides court-ordered youth the opportunity to earn monetary restitution for their victims or perform supervised community service by participating in work groups or individual placements.

Preparation for Independent Living Program (PILP) provides homeless youth, 16 - 21, with the life skills necessary to live as independent, productive citizens. Residential, foster care and scattered site apartment components are offered. Through its Bason Center, PILP offers the only homeless youth street outreach program in North Carolina.

Structured Day Program (SDP) provides middle school and ninth grade students who are short-term suspended from school (three to ten days) support in academic, life skills and behavior modification in order prevent and minimize the negative impact of school suspension. Students are engaged in constructive learning activities during their suspension period.

The Furniture Experience & More is a pre-owned furniture and household store. This retail store provides a unique opportunity for consumers to purchase merchandise for their homes or businesses at an affordable price while giving back to the community by enabling our organization to better serve at-risk-youth.
