"A PLACE FOR HELP. A REASON FOR HOPE." HAVEN HOUSE MESSAGE GOES PUBLIC PSA Campaign Raises the Issue of Runaway and Homeless Youth
Raleigh, NC, Jan. 11, 2005 – Haven House Services and the Ad Club of the Triangle today unveiled a new public service announcement (PSA) campaign designed to educate the public about the issue of runaway and homeless youth. Print, radio and TV PSAs that depict the harsh circumstances faced by young people who have runaway and/or who find themselves homeless will begin appearing this month. More than $200,000 in advertising space has been donated by local media.
"Every year, more than 2,500 Wake County youth are forced to seek shelter away from home. They are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces. Some are as young as ten. All of them need your help. To donate time, money or supplies, visit www.havenhousenc.org or call us at 919-833-3312. Your efforts change lives," states the radio PSA.
Each year, the Ad Club of the Triangle (ACT), which is made up of area communication professionals, creates and implements a PSA campaign for a worthy cause in the Triangle. Haven House was chosen for 2005. In addition to PSAs, the Ad Club designed a new logo and tag line for Haven House.
"For Wake County's runaway and homeless youth, Haven House is the only place that offers refuge and hope," said ACT President Mack Moore. "We want to be instrumental in motivating the general public to join Haven House in its efforts to help this vulnerable population."
Haven House Services has been helping young people and their families for more than thirty years. In addition to offering the only shelter for runaway and homeless youth in Wake County, Haven House provides a wide-range of programs that include outreach, crisis intervention, in-home family preservation, mentoring, residential treatment, restitution and community services, and independent living skills.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Ad Club," stated Mike Rieder, Executive Director of Haven House Services. "With their help, and increased community support, we can truly make a difference in the lives of hundreds of young people and their families. Together, we can give runaway and homeless youth a reason for hoping that tomorrow can be better than today."
