Project Safe Place

Haven House Services - A Place for Help. A Reason for Hope.

Project Safe Place is the outreach component of Wrenn House, Haven House Services's runaway/crisis intervention program and shelter. With more than 200 Safe Place sites across Wake County, the program provides immediate access to crisis intervention and counseling through a network of trained volunteers and businesses.

Young people through age 17 experiencing any type of crisis situation can go to a Safe Place site for immediate help. No crisis is too small - being with a drunk or unsafe driver, trouble at school or in the neighborhood, problems at home, etc.

When a young person is in a crisis, or on the street and unsure where to find help, they can look for the yellow and black sign designating a Safe Place. An employee will help them contact Wrenn House and offer shelter until a trained Safe Place volunteer arrives. The volunteer will provide transportation to Wrenn House where appropriate services will be provided. (Wake County Safe Place sites are listed on the back.)

Safe Place is a nationally replicated program, operating in more than 600 communities across the country. Haven House Services has successfully run the Wake County program since 1987. Safe Place (like Wrenn House) operates 24/7.
