Donation Drives:
The Essentials Pantry is 100% stocked by individual donors and donation drives. Demand for our Essentials Pantry continues to rise. Last year alone, we provided nearly 2,000 bags of food, toiletries, and household items to 280 youth and their families—a 30% increase from the previous year.
Contact Kelly at kbloom@havenhousenc.org for help organizing a donation drive at your work, with your civic group, or faith-based community that will make the biggest impact.
Group Volunteering:
We would love to work with your corporate, faith-based, or community group!
We can accommodate on-site groups of up to 12 adult volunteers. Be aware: group volunteer slots fill quickly because we host a maximum of four on-site groups each month. On-site projects may include: facilities maintenance, organizing our pantry and resource closet, landscaping.
If your group includes members under the age of 18, reach out to discuss projects that can be done off-site. We can help groups of any age organize a volunteer project at your location.
Individual Volunteering
We welcome individual volunteers! Please note that volunteers will not be able to work directly with youth in our programs. Volunteers help with tasks such as:
- General office assistance
- Pantry support
- Fundraising
- Facilities & garden maintenance
- Committee work
Special event volunteer opportunities include:
- Battle of the Bags cornhole tournament (annually, May/June)
- Annual Campaign (annually, Sept/Oct)
- Holiday programs (annually, Nov/Dec)
Important Notes:
- We do not provide hours for court-mandated community service.
- Most volunteer opportunities are for individuals 18+.
- Individuals must volunteer in-person during regular business hours.
Turn your next celebration or event into an opportunity to make a difference. Hosting a fundraiser for Haven House is a simple, impactful way to support youth in our community.
A few ideas:
- Host a dinner party or social gathering
- Organize a golf or sports tournament
- Lead a workplace fundraiser or team challenge
- Ask for donations instead of birthday or wedding gifts
- Plan a community or peer-to-peer fundraising event
We can provide promotional materials, guidance, and a personalized online fundraising page to make getting started simple.
