Read Franchesca’s story below.

At 23 years old, I was a single mom without a support system or stable housing. I was staying in a shelter with my young daughter. I reached out to Haven House Services, and that is when my life drastically changed.

Haven House’s Transition in Place (TIP) program helped me and my daughter move from homelessness into housing. My case manager helped me find an apartment, and the program provided assistance with the rent. I learned how to set up my utilities, pay my bills, and access everything my daughter and I needed for our new home, including furniture and household goods. My case manager also helped me get a bus pass and a voucher for a childcare center that is within walking distance of my apartment so I could work full-time.

I recently completed the TIP program and am now independently living in the same apartment. My case manager still checks in on me monthly to hear how I am doing and see if she can help me with any current problems or challenges. Honestly, Haven House has been my only support system. I’ve always looked around at other people and their lives and thought to myself, “That looks so hard – I’ll never be able to have that.” Now, I know what it feels like to have my own home for my family.

Haven House was there for me, and I know they will continue to be there for me. I am so thankful to everyone who has helped them so they could be there to help me.
