Summary Facilitates a safe and therapeutic residential environment for youth in crisis, overseeing weekend shelter operations and direct care services.
Specific position duties and responsibilities: Provides direct care and case management as outlined in program policies and procedures, including but not limited to, responding to crisis calls, conducting initial screenings and facilitating admissions and discharges Coordinates and facilitates weekend skill building and recreational program activities Provides supervision of youth according to program guidelines and policies, maintaining an environment that promotes the safety and wellbeing of youth in care Models care and respect to youth in care and their families, through interactions that are consistently strengths-based, developmentally appropriate and reflect implementation of best practice guidelines identified in the program’s policies and procedures Leads program’s weekend meal preparation activities ensuring that prepared meals/snacks are balanced and youth are engaged in planning/preparation Collaborates with shelter staff in a seamless delivery of services that aligns with the shelter’s guidelines and policies Develops and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders from systems that impact program youth Complies with all record management requirements Completes daily facility maintenance and cleaning activities, ensuring the facility is orderly, clean, and in a good state of repair at all times Expends agency funds as directed and maintains all required documentation Provides shift change transition communication   General agency duties and responsibilities: Completes all required trainings Participates in agency outreach and fundraising events Demonstrates a willingness to assist in other agency programs as needed Acts as a custodian and demonstrates responsible and ethical use of agency property and facilities Displays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics Strives to embody the agency’s Code of Ethics while working towards the agency’s Mission Learns and demonstrates Agency-wide Competencies including the areas of consumer and community relationships, continuous individual and agency-wide improvement, vision and purpose, respect and teamwork and positive leadership Learns, develops, and models Positive Youth Development core competencies resulting in capacity to contribute to the mission of Haven House Services and be a resource to our youth and families, other partner organizations, and our community Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field from an accredited institution Two years of related experience working with target population or Combination of education and experience that meets position requirements will be considered
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of the NC Juvenile Court System, local community resources, and experience with client documentation and file management Strong written and verbal communication skills
Other requirements: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record Personal vehicle for use in conducting home visits and/or transporting clients in the event agency vehicles aren’t available Proof of current/valid car insurance Acceptable background report Negative drug screen results Post-offer employment physical and TB per licensing standards Post-offer employment federal and state fingerprint checks
Work environment: Weekend and evening hours required Willingness to work holidays and during inclement weather Culture of care and wellness in the office Potential exposure to bloodborne and/or airborne pathogens
